Pilot Mound Millennium Recreation Complex 2006 report:

With minimal government support, community members have volunteered countless hours and resources over the past 4 years in order to provide the community and area with a multifaceted Millennium Recreation Complex which will accommodate an Arena, 3 sheets of Curling Ice, a Day Care/Early Learning Centre, a Theatre/Cultural Centre and Wellness/Fitness facilities.

Pouring Cement at the Complex With all credit to volunteers of the community, construction progress was accelerated during the last 2 years, including the mezzanine steel and concrete work. (This large space will accommodate the development of additional facilities in the future.)

The basic ground infrastructure installations and concrete base levelling took many of those volunteer hours. This was followed by the placement of insulation, rebar, refrigeration pipe and testing, and the big pour of concrete for the arena.

Boards and glass have been installed in the arena

The arena boards and glass, for which the NHLPA assisted with the financing, have been installed.

The Zamboni and mechanical room are now ready for mechanical installations. All floor installations, including piping for recovered heat, and concrete floor are completed for the Day Care/Early Learning facility. Partitions will be constructed in that area in the very near future.

Willing volunteers continue to be on call for the work that lies ahead to complete the main floor and curling rink concrete.

With the completion of this work, spectators will be impressed to see just what the interior of the Complex will look like, with all of the walls and partitions in place.

The initial plan of developing the Complex in Phases as finances warranted, is being carried out. In addition to the willing and enthusiastic volunteers who report for construction duty, are the Fund Raisers. Many different means of fund raising are on going, such as: meat draws, toonie draws, donations from local and former residents (tax receipted), corporate and local organizations donations, mega garage sales, farming rented land, growing corn and potatoes for sale, raffles, lotteries, a large auction every 2 years, and many more.
