Volunteer Opportunities
The residents of Pilot Mound ALWAYS have something on the go, and can always use some help in multiple areas. For some projects we have on the go, we'll even accept the help of someone wanting to camp out here for a few days and volunteer their expertise!
Tivoli Theatre
To keep operating costs minimal for the community owned Tivoli Theatre, volunteers from the communities of Pilot Mound, Crystal City and Clearwater take a turn at running the canteen one night of the weekend. With a large volunteer base, each one does not have to work the canteen often. Currently a larger volunteer base is needed. If you would be interested in helping in the canteen, generally about 2 hours per turn, please phone 825-3867.
Pilot Mound Millennium Recreation Complex
This is one of the biggest projects in Pilot Mound currently. During the winter months, volunteer workers appear every day to continue the interior work that needs to be completed before the complex can open. Currently, volunteers are busy framing the new Day Care with the intent it will be up and running by spring. Local volunteers with experience in carpentry, cement preparation, plumbing & heating, or just good at being told what to do and getting it done are daily moving the progress of this massive project forward.
If you feel you'd like to help out, give Pat Sutherland a call at 204-825-2474 (weekdays). He won't turn you away..:-)
Pilot Mound Balloon Festival
Attracting possibly 1000's of people to the community, the Pilot Mound Balloon Festival is one-of-a-kind in Manitoba. Balloons Aloft of Winnipeg teams up with other hot-air balloonist across the country providing rides and other forms of entertainment to Manitobans, right here in Pilot Mound. See
the Balloon Fest Website for more details as they are posted.
Taking admissions, helping with set-up, ground crew, selling t-shirts, working at food booths, and clean up are just a few of the ways extra volunteers will be needed in the community this summer.
Memorial Rose Garden
Anyone who has a small garden appreciates how much continual work they are. If you love gardening, your help with the Rose Garden will be more than welcome!
Louise Community Services For Seniors
Fran Cavers is always looking for someone to shovel snow or cut grass as a volunteer. There's always a need for folks willing to drive our Seniors to a larger center for medical appointments, or just around town for grocery shopping etc. Give Fran a call at her office. See
Louise Community Services For Seniors for her location and phone number.
Rock Lake United Church Camp
In Spring & Fall there's always general outdoor clean up to be done at the camp. Additionally, when the dinners are held in June or September, an extra helping hand will always be gratefully accepted. This year a foundation's being laid for a new cabin, and anyone wishing to help with that is welcome.
Please call Nita Avery at 204-825-2443 for more information.
